Hurricane Harvey is already making its presence known across a large portion of Texas. Harvey is forecast to make landfall as a category 3 storm along the Lone 1 Star State's Gulf 2 Coast. And experts are warning residents to expect lots of flooding and power outages.
At least 20 people are dead after militants 3 stormed a packed Shiite mosque 4 in the Afghan capital of Kabul during Friday prayers. The attack lasted hours, leaving another 50 seriously wounded. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Treasury 5 Secretary Steven Mnuchin announces new restrictions 6 on access to American capital markets by Venezuela in an effort to stop the Maduro government from draining the Venezuelan Treasury. Mnuchin said the sanctions were crafted to strike a balance between cutting Maduro's ability to raise new money while also allowing some exceptions to ensure ordinary Venezuelans are not afflicted 7.
And a Bengal tiger cub 8 is now a new addition to a zoo in San Diego, a result of a teen trying to sneak 9 it into the US from Mexico. The teen, who now faces smuggling 10 charges, says he bought the 5- or 6-week-old cub on the streets of Tijuana.
