The five men facing trial in New York for their alleged 1 role in the 9/11 terror attacks all will plead not guilty. The Lawyer for one of the men says they will not deny their role in the attacks but instead would explain what happened and why they did it. Professed 2 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, his nephew, Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali and three other men are expected to explain their assessment 3 of American foreign policy and as Ali’s attorney puts it, that assessment is negative.
Scott Fenstermaker met with Ali last week at Guantanamo Bay. He says he's not spoken with the other defendants 4, but says the men did discuss the trial among themselves.
The Justice Department announced earlier this month the five men will be trialed in federal court in Manhattan for killing 5 nearly 3,000 people in the deadliest terrorist attack in American history. All five are currently being held at Guantanamo. It’s unclear when they will be moved to the US.
