[02:21.53]Dear Xiaojun,

[02:24.40]  I hope you are very well. I'm fine,but tired.

[02:29.68]Right now it is the summer vacation and I'm helping 3 my Dad on the farm.

[02:35.74]August is the hottest month here.

[02:39.40]It is the time of year for the rice harvest,

[02:43.66]so every day I work from dawn 4 until dark.

[02:48.70]Sometimes we go on working after dark by the lights of our tractors 5.

[02:54.58]We grow rice in the south of the States,

[02:58.83]but in the north where it is colder they grow wheat.

[03:04.08]We have a lot of machines on the farm.

[03:07.72]Although the farm is large,

[03:11.24]my Dad has only two men working for him.

[03:15.92]But the employs 6 more men for the harvest.

[03:19.86]    My brother takes care of the vegetable garden.

[03:23.99]It doesn't often rain in the summer here.

[03:27.46]As a result,we have to water the vegetable garden.

[03:32.22]Every evening we pump 7 water from a well.

[03:36.16]It then runs along channels to different parts of the garden.

[03:41.34]Most Saturday evenings there is a party,even at harvest time.

[03:47.68]We cook meat on an open fire outside.  It's great!

[03:53.01]Americans eat a lot of meat----too much in my opinion.

[03:56.88]Some of my friends drink beer.
