[02:12.62]Charlie Chaplin,who died in 1977,

[02:17.80]is considered one of the greatest and funniest actors in the history of the cinema.

[02:24.04]During his lifetime,he acted in 13 films,

[02:29.50]and he wrote,directed 6 and acted in 69 other films.

[02:35.98]Chaplin was born in London in 1889 and first acted when he was five years old.

[02:44.34]At the age of eight,he joined a group of child dancers,

[02:49.67]and at seventeen he set off for the USA with a group of comedy actors.

[04:36.64]Two of his greatest films,"City Lights" and "Modern Times" were of this kind.

[05:35.88]One of Charlie Chaplin's most famous films was "The Gold Rush",

[05:42.36]which was made in 1925.

[05:46.31]The film was set in California 13 in the middle of the nineteenth century
