A boat carrying 34 asylum 1 seekers and 4 crew has reached Australian waters. The navy intercepted 2 the boat yesterday and they will be taken to the Christmas Island detention 3 center. Meanwhile there is no end in sight to the stand-off involving 78 asylum seekers on board the Oceanic Viking. The asylum seekers were due to be taken to an Indonesian detention center but they were refusing to leave the ship.
More than 60 soldiers and police have been arrested in Iraq in connection with Sunday's suicide bombings in Baghdad. Among those arrested are the commanders of 15 separate checkpoints near the area where the blasts occurred. 153 people died in the attacks.
