Australian photo journalist Nigel Brennan has been released by kidnappers 1 in Somalia. After being held for 15 months, he and a Canadian colleague say they can’t believe they’re free. They’re now in a hotel in Mogadishu and are reported to be in good health.

It’s proving to be a troublesome week for Malcolm Turnbull. Not only has he narrowly fended 2 off a challenge to his position, but now the OzCar affair has reared its head. The close links between the former Treasury 3 official at the heart of the affair, Godwin Grech, and members of the Liberal Party have been laid bare in a Senate report. It’s found Mr. Grech misled a Senate inquiry 4 into the OzCar financing scheme, but his current mental and physical health has prevented any further findings.

And US officials say President Barack Obama will pledge to cut greenhouse gas emissions 5 in several stages, beginning with a 17% cut by 2020. President Obama will make the offer at next month's UN climate talks in Copenhagen which he will attend. But he doesn’t plan to be in Copenhagen for the crucial final days of the conference.
