The Prime Minister 's being urged to take action against Japanese whaling when he stops in Tokyo today. The Opposition 1 wants Kevin Rudd to follow through on his threat of legal action after Japan confirmed it will continue whaling as usual this summer. Mr. Rudd is on his way to the Copenhagen Climate Summit where a rift 2 has occurred between rich countries and developing nations. African countries led a walkout after accusing developed nations of trying to kill the Kyoto Protocol 3.


In Fiji, after four people are feared dead after the Pacific nation was battered 4 by Cyclone 5 Mick. A young boy has been killed by a falling tree and its feared three people have been swept away. Police are still trying to confirm the death toll 6.


American banking 7 giant Citigroup is to pay back more than 20 billion dollars of government bailout funding. It received one of the largest bailouts from the US government after being hit hard by the credit crunch 8. Repaying the money will allow the company to leave the government's program.


And US President Barack Obama got into the holiday spirit at the annual Christmas in Washington concert. He and wife Michelle welcomes some elves to the celebration and sing carols on stage with some musical legends.
