Hello and Welcome to News and Reports on China Radio International.
In This EditionChina is scheduled to launch its Shenzhou 9 manned spacecraft Saturday night.
China's deep-sea submersible "Jiaolong" has completed its first dive.
Demonstrators gather in Cairo's Tahrir Square, calling for a boycott 1 of Saturday's presidential run-off vote.
And Chinese solar energy companies call for discussions with EU countries ahead of a reported anti-dumping investigation 2 into Chinese solar power products.
Hot Issue ReportsLaunch Time Set Sat. 18:37, Astronauts RevealedChina's space authorities have set the launch time for Shenzhou-9.
Spokesperson Wu Ping says Shenzhou-9 is scheduled to be launched Saturday evening at 6:37pm.
"About 5 hundred and 85 seconds after the lift off of Long March 2F Rocket, the space ship will be separate with the rocket and enters into a 2-hundred kilometers perigee 3 and 330 kilometers apogee 4 for the first automatic docking with the Tiangong-1. After the automatic docking, astronauts will enter into the Tiangong-1 lab module 5 through the docking passage, and start working and living there. Several days after the automatic docking, astronauts will carry out the manual docking. First, the two vehicles will be separated, then the astronauts will carry out the manual docking."The crew of the Shenzhou-9 mission has also been revealed.
The two male astronauts include 43-year-old Liu Wang and veteran commander Jing Haipeng.
This will be 46-year old Jing's 3rd mission into space.
The 3rd person on the crew of Shenzhou-9 is China's first female astronaut, 33-year old former airforce pilot Liu Yang.
For more on the Shenzhou-9 mission, Paul James earlier talked with our reporter Su Yi, who is in Jiuquan to cover the event.
China's First Female Astronaut Meets MediaChina's first female astronaut says she's honored to fly in space on behalf of all the women in China.
Liu Yang made the remark when she and two male astronauts met the media on Friday afternoon before they lift off on the Shenzhou-9 mission Saturday.
Their two-week mission will involve manually docking with China's space lab module Tiangong-1.
"I am grateful to the motherland and the people. I feel honored to fly into space on behalf of hundreds of millions of female Chinese citizens. To become a qualified 7 astronaut, one has to obtain a lot of theoretical knowledge, go through very challenging training and pass operations skills examinations with no errors."Mission commander Jing Haipeng says the manual docking will demand exceptional skills from the astronauts.
"The manual docking is a challenge because one's sense of direction in space is different and it takes exceptional ability to control their eyes, hands and their brains. Most importantly the mission is a psychological challenge for astronauts."During training, the astronauts repeated every single move more than 1,000 times before they were approved for the mission.
China's Manned Submersible Completes First Dive, Reached 6671 MetersChina's deep-sea submersible "Jiaolong" has completed its first dive.
The Jiaolong has since returned to its carrier ship after reaching a depth of over 66-hundred meters in the Mariana Trench 8 in the western Pacific.
Cui Weicheng is one of the three divers 9 inside the vessel 10.
"We did not aim for reaching the bottom of the ocean this time. So after we hit 6671 meters, we turned instead to focusing on testing our equipment. We turned on the flashlights, so the water around us looked quite clear, but we did not see any sea creatures. There are not that many creatures at that depth."Submariner Yang Bo also is part of the 3-person team.
He says while the overall mission went well, they did hit a bit of a snag during the dive.
"The communication system had been operating well until we reached 6000 meters, and after that there were some problems in the carrier ship's system. However, the acoustic 11 communication system onboard our vessel was normal. Apart from that, the data we collected shows that our vessel was 240 meters above the bottom. So this mission has paved the way for our next challenge, which is to reach the bottom next time."The Jiaolong is scheduled to complete 5-more dives in the coming days, with the ultimate goal of reaching a depth of 7-thousand meters.
Travel in DenmarkPresident Hu Jintao's trip to Denmark is sparking increased interest in the country from China. CRI's Zhang Wan 6 has more.
If you believe in those contentment surveys that come out every couple of years, then Denmark is one of the happiest nations on earth with the best quality of life. In Denmark, there are a lot more than fairytales for you to hunt after. Here is Cindy Zhu, Media and Event Manager of Scandinavian Tourist Board.
"As a matter of fact, there are many things that few people from other countries know about Denmark. We usually think of Denmark as a land of fairytales from Hans Christian 12 Andersen and so on. Actually, there are also many museums, parks and famous designs in the country."You don't need statistics to understand that the Danes are a happy lot. Stroll around Copenhagen or pretty much any Danish town, and you'll experience some of the most harmonious 13 civic 14 spaces anywhere.
"Danes enjoy their life very much. Apart from the museums, art galleries, and castles that are everywhere in Europe, Denmark has many delicate little shops along the streets. For example, walking along the canal in Copenhagen, you will find some small antique shops and cafes where people enjoy their afternoon tea time."Cindy says that, although Denmark doesn't have symbolic 15 architecture like the Eiffel tower in France, people can easily find many common but impressive scenes in the country.
It's hard, in short, to find fault with the place. Visitors' most heartfelt grumbles 16 are usually the cost of visiting Denmark, which is a fair complaint.
"In general, the cost of traveling in Nordic states is a little bit higher than in other European countries, including costs for meals, accommodation and so on. Denmark is in the top five high cost countries in Europe. For example, an ordinary hotel room usually costs you about 1000 yuan per night."According to statistics by the Scandinavian Tourist Board, Denmark has become more attractive among Chinese, with an average increase of 15 percent tourists each year.
"Since 2006, the number of Chinese traveling to Denmark has been growing every year. Based on our previous analysis, Chinese people above 35 years old, who have high incomes, were more willing to visit Nordic states. However, since 2010, more and more young people chose Nordic states as their travel destination. Some of my friends even go to Nordic states on their first trip abroad."Cindy added with more Chinese travel abroad, Europe has gotten more familiar. Some European countries such as France and Italy are not as fresh as they once were, and Nordic countries are happy to accommodate.
For CRI, I am Zhang Wan.
Egyptians Demonstrate in CairoDemonstrators have been gathering 17 in Cairo's Tahrir Square, calling for a boycott of Saturday's presidential run-off vote.
The demonstration 18 follows yesterday's court ruling that has overturned last year's parliamentary elections.
Egypt's Supreme 19 Court has also ruled ex-Prime Minister, Ahmed Shafiq, is allowed to take part in the the presidential runoff against the Muslim Brotherhood 20's Mohamed Morsi.
"It is a plain fact that if anybody wants to get back their rights they should come to here to claim their demands. Because the military council will not satisfy those demands and the Muslim Brotherhood will not respond either.""The revolution has achieved nothing so far. The political scene at the moment is that Mubarak's ex-prime minister is a strong front-runner and he has a real chance of being the next president."The Muslim Brotherhood, which won 46-percent of the seats in parliament, is warning the court ruling may lead the country into days "more dangerous than the last days of Mubarak's rule."Egypt's ruling military council has since dissolved parliament and is putting together a collection of 100 people to draft a new constitution for the country.
Chinese PV Companies to Lobby over Possible EU Anti-dumping ProbeChinese solar energy companies are putting out a call for discussions with EU countries ahead of a reported anti-dumping investigation into Chinese solar power products.
A German firm says the EU may be preparing to launch an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese Photovoltaic products by the end of this month.
Word of this follows a similar move by the US government last month to impose duties on Chinese solar energy products.
Gao Jifan is Chair and CEO of Trina Solar, one of four leading Chinese solar energy companies.
"We are now trying to communicate with German PV product manufacturers, the German government, as well as the EU. We want them to understand better Chinese enterprises' great contribution to the global PV industry."China produces over 60 percent of the world's PV products, 90-percent of which are exported.
Chinese Enterprises be more Cautious When Going Global: ExpertsFinancial experts gathered in Beijing are advocating Chinese companies partner with local advisers 21 and be more cautious about potential risks when buying foreign companies.
Andre Loesekrug-Pietri, Chair of the "A-Capital China Outbound Fund" says partnering with local players is critical for outbound investment.
He also says buying seemingly cheap bankrupt companies is not a good idea.
"Going for bankrupt companies I think is so dangerous. The failure rate of turnaround compared to growth capital, that means investing in good companies, is 50 percent. If you add to that the 10,000 kilometers between Europe, or the US and China, The difficulty of managing two cultures really is a recipe for failure."Meanwhile, Chinese entrepreneurs taking part in the sessions admit cultural differences are some of their biggest challenges when trying to go global.
Zhao Yufeng is the assistant General Manager of Beiqi Foton Motors.
"The first difficulty is cultural differences. Language is top one among cultural differences. Also, Chinese way of doing business is very different from the local countries and international way of doing business. So adapting to foreign culture is an issue."Chinese outbound investment through mergers 22 and acquisitions have grown by 12-year-on-year to 43 billion U.S. dollars through the course of last year.
RMB Trade Settlements ApplaudedWith increasing pressure being put on the euro and the US dollar in recent weeks, the Chinese government's recent moves to expand its cross-border Renminbi trade settlement program is gaining more international recognition.
Sayo Fanimokun is head of foreign operations with Nigeria's Central Bank.
"(We) Established an RMB settlement with the Bank of China this year, around April, 2012 to facilitate settlement in trade and remittances 23. This account of the opening and we are looking forward to opening more on the Chinese bank."Bilateral 24 trade volume between China and Nigeria exceeded 10 billion U.S. dollars last year.
At the same time, the Renminbi trade-settlement program is also being embraced more in Europe as well.
Victor Pallemans is a senior manager of Amsterdam Inbusiness, an exporting service company in the Netherlands.
"This is likely to be a great push for the economic cooperation between the Netherlands and China. So a lot of mid-size companies now have opportunities to do business in China, to sell their products, to manufacture their products partly in China. They have a great need to do RMB business."The pilot program for Renminbi trade settlement began in 2009.
B20 Summit to Kick off in MexicoAhead of the forthcoming G20 Summit in Mexico, an international group of business leaders is gathering there as well.
CRI's Ding Lulu on what to expect from this year's so-called B20-summit.
The B20 Summit is scheduled to open on Sunday in Los Cabos, Mexico, just one day before the G20 Leaders' Summit in the same coastal 25 city.
About 450 CEOs of leading global companies will attend the summit, including more than 20 corporate 26 leaders from China. Their discussions will focus on eight themes, according to Alejandro Ramirez, chair of the organizing committee of the B20.
Ramirez and his colleagues believe that business plays an important role in helping 27 governments combat those global and critical challenges. The main objective of B20 is to foster dialogue between G20 government leaders and the business community. Therefore, some B20 topics are chosen from the agenda of the G20.
"This year the Mexican presidency 28 of the G20 put Green Growth, Food Security and Financial Inclusion in the agenda, so we includec those in the B20 Summit because we try to mirror what the G20 leaders are discussing. "They also added some topics that the business community are highly concerned with.
"We added employment because it is one of the critical international issues at the moment with high unemployment levels in a large part of G20. And trade and investment, because we think trade and investment should always be in the agenda."As for the difference between the Mexican Summit and previous ones, Ramirez said the host determined 29 to ensure that the B20 recommendations are specific, implementable, and prioritized, and that action plans are clearly defined.
"It is a more focused B20 with a lower number of task forces. In this B20, we will have one or at most two prioritized task forces, and that allows for more effective follow-up and assessment 30 of impact that the recommendation is having."The first B20 Summit was held in Seoul, South Korea in November, 2010 while the second was held in France in June, 2011.
For CRI, this is DLL.

Central News Agency (Taiwan)A young couple have been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison by the Taiwan High Court for causing the death of their one-year-old daughter last year through neglect.
THe court says the parents were engrossed 32 in online games and neglected the baby, which led to her death from malnutrition 33 and dehydration 34 last February.
The court ruled that the couple, in their 20s, had deliberately 35 committed offenses 36 related to abandonment.
The court found that the infant weighed less than four kilograms at the age of one because she was underfed.
In their defense 37, the couple said they had not deliberately neglected the baby, but simply did not know enough about child care.
Both parents claimed that they suffer from mild mental retardation 38 and the husband, the sole breadwinner, was earning less than 10,000 New Taiwan dollars, or some 330 us dollars per month.
They said that it was difficult for them to care for a baby on the money they had.
The latest sentence can still be appealed.
AFPFormer IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn's stunning 39 fall from grace will be presented on a Paris stage this week in a play focusing on his sex scandals.

The authors describe the play, "In the beginning there is a dream -- to climb to the highest office. In the end, there is nothing but the horror of the fall, a nightmare"The play focuses in part on Strauss-Kahn's relationship with his journalist wife Anne Sinclair, who has stood by him through his scandals.
US director Abel Ferrara said this year that he plans to film a Strauss-Kahn movie, featuring Gerard Depardieu as the fallen International Monetary 41 Fund boss and Isabelle Adjani as his loyal wife.
A one-time frontrunner for the French presidency, Strauss-Kahn's career collapsed 42 after his arrest last year on accusations 43 he sexually assaulted a New York hotel maid.
