[00:05.64]The first day of school our professor introduced a little old lady to us.
[00:12.99]“Why are you in college at such a young age?" I asked later.
[00:17.24]She jokingly replied,
[00:19.14]“I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children,
[00:24.48]and then retire and travel."
[00:26.45]"No seriously," I asked.
[00:28.99]I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.
[00:34.23]" I always dreamed of having a college education
[00:37.32]and now I’m getting one!" she told me.
[00:40.06]We became instant friends.
[00:42.46]Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop.
[00:47.96]I was always listening to this “time machine"
[00:50.68]as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.
[00:53.52]At the end of the semester 1 we invited Rose to make a speech to our football team.
[00:59.12]I’ll never forget what she taught us.
[01:01.62]As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her note card on the floor.
[01:07.45]A little embarrassed she simply said,
[01:10.07]“I’m sorry. This whiskey is killing 2 me!
[01:13.13]I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."
[01:18.52] As we laughed she cleared her throat and began:
[01:22.01]“We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.
[01:28.92]There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success.

[02:25.57]At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree.
[02:29.50]One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.
