For the first time a computer beat a world champion at the Asian board game of Go. Google’s DeepMind AlphaGo defeated Lee Se-dol of South Korea in the first two encounters 1 of a best-of-five series. The third game is due to take place today. Computers had already beaten the world’s best chess players, but Go is much more complex.
