Reports said that Ant Financial, Alibaba’s financial-services affiliate, was close to buying a stakein Caixin, a respected Chinese business magazine. A deal would be the e-commerce giant’ssecond media investment in short order: in December Alibaba bought the South China MorningPost, a Hong Kong newspaper. Tencent, another big Chinese internet firm, invested in Caixin in2012.
