Hi there, I'm Ricky from the BBC World News for Children. It's Thursday the 10th of June.

Coming up:

Pop star Shakira's set to kick off the World Cup.

South Korean rocket has 'exploded'.

And the technology that allows students to sit exams at home.

First up - it's just one day to go until the World Cup! In just a few hours thousands will flock 1 to the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg for a special pre tournament concert. The pop star Shakira will be one of the big performers. The BBC spoke 2 to the singer as she was paying a visit to a school in Soweto. The pupils at Isu Lihle Senior Primary gave the star a massive 3 welcome ......

CLIP 4: Singing fx.

Apart from performing at tonight's concert - Shakira is also trying to raise awareness 5 about the huge number of kids around the world that don't get to go to school....

CLIP: "It's an important opportunity, a very critical platform to bring attention to important issues - such as all those 72 million kids around the world who don't attend school, of which 32 million are African's

So lots of good reasons for being in South Africa - but it seems a passion for football isn't one of them....

CLIP: "I never kicked a ball in my life. But I grew up seeing my brothers, you know - glued to the television. So, I understand it very well , I understand it - otherwise I wouldn't be here."

Well Shakira might not be too interested in footy but there are thousands of massive football fans flocking 6 to South Africa from all over the world. Some of those journeys will take days - but that's nothing compared to the trip that one family from Uruguay have made. It's taken Mario Sabah, and his two sons, 3 years to get there. They drove through 41 countries and had to deal with freezing conditions in Canada and the boiling heat of Pakistan. Not to mention the heat generated 7 by lots of family rows........

CLIP: "Really difficult because we fight, we fight a lot! But in each fight we grow up. We know each other more than when we started."

More of the days news now - and it seems that a South Korean rocket has exploded moments after take-off. The rocket was carrying a satellite into outer space to study climate change. But the vehicle went off the radar 8 shortly after lift off. Pictures being shown on South Korean TV seem to show the rocket falling into the sea.

Now forget stuffy 9 exam halls - how would you fancy taking tests in the comfort of your own room? Well a new computer programme has been developed that can let you sit exams at home - while making sure you don't cheat. It has a device which takes a fingerprint 10 of the student to make sure that they are who they say they are. It also has a web-cam and microphone so that they can pick up on anyone else entering the room. And just to be extra sure - the programme "locks down" the internet so that students can't search for answers.

Finally some cricket 11 news - Sri Lanka has won the one-day triangular 12 series in Harare after a nine-wicket win over Zimbabwe. And for today's question we want to know what Sri Lanka's largest city is?

Yesterday we asked you what the world's biggest lizard 13 is called - the answer is the Komodo Dragon!

OK, that's all from the BBC World News for Children. We're back tomorrow.
