   Jeenn Lee

Thesis Statement (>Focus>Signposts):
Keep the introduction right to the point.  The essential thing your introduction needs is one starting sentence for Thesis Statement, a second sentence for Focus, and a third sentence for two Signposts (which prepare the reader for a change in the the focus' direction toward the body paragraphs). Therefore, writing three sentences is fine in the introduction.
Do you agree or disagree? (To what extent do you agree or disagree?)
TOEFL Task 2: 提出理由 Use reasons and (提出切题的例证) specific examples and/or details (支持你答题的立场) to support your answer.
IELTS Task 2: 提出理由 Give reasons (支持你答题的立场) for your answer and (提出切题的例证) include any relevant examples (来自你'抽象'的知识和经验) from your own knowledge or experiece.
In general, using the first person--"I", "my", "me"--is permitted but is not necessary.  Avoid using "feeling" statements, e.g., "I feel that..." "I believe that..," "I think that...", unless you are asked to do so (perhaps in the introduction and the conclusion).  If you have written this essay, we can assume that the beliefs are yours.  That is to say, if you have written this paper, we take it for granted that the opinions are yours.
