A famous singer had been contracted to sing at a Paris opera house and ticket sales were
booming[急速发展的]. In fact, the night of the concert, the house was packed; every ticket had been sold.
The feeling of anticipation 1 and excitement was in the air as the house manager took the stage and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your enthusiastic support. I am afraid that due to illness, the man whom you’ve all come to hear will not be performing tonight. However, we have found a suitable substitute[代替者] we hope will provide you with comparable 2 entertainment.”
The crowd groaned[叹息] in disappointment and failed to hear the announcer 3 mention the stand-in[代替者]’s name. The environment turned from excitement to frustration[挫败].
The stand-in performer gave the performance everything he had. When he had finished, there was nothing but an uncomfortable silence… No one applauded[拍手喝彩].
Suddenly, from the balcony[(戏院)楼座], a little boy stood up and shouted, “Daddy, I think you’re wonderful!”
The crowd broke into thunderous applause 4.
Make someone’s day. Tell them you think they’re wonderful!
一位著名的歌唱家签约到巴黎的一家歌剧院献唱。门票销售空前火爆。事实上,演唱会当晚的歌剧院座无虚席,所有门票都被一扫而空。
当歌剧院的经理走上舞台时,会场中充满了期待与兴奋的气氛。经理说到:“女士们先生们,非常感谢你们的热情支持。由于疾病的缘故,你们特地前来捧场的这位歌唱家今晚恐怕无法为你们进行表演了。然而,我们请来了一位合适的代演者,衷心希望你们能享受接下来的节目。”
观众大失所望,抱怨连天,也没听主持人介绍替演者的名字。整个气氛由兴奋转为了失望。
替演者使尽浑身解数为观众表演。表演结束时,台下鸦雀无声,尴尬
无比……没有一个人鼓掌。
突然,楼座上的一个小男孩站了起来,大声喊道:“爸爸,我觉得你棒极了!”
人们爆发出雷鸣般的掌声。
为别人奉上一个“出头天”吧。告诉他们,你认为他们棒极了!
