Ball这个词人人都认识，就是球的意思。但在日常表达里，它的用法却不止于此。

在上面这个句子里，ball的意思是“舞会”。
另外，常见的短语on the ball 通常表示“有知识，有才华，懂行，办事利索”等意思。例如：
