Diamond Jubilee 1 celebrations are in full swing in the UK, as Queen Elizabeth the Second prepares to mark 60 years on the throne. A flotilla of boats has already begun making its way along the River Thames.

The 86-year-old queen and the royal family are on board the royal barge 2, Spirit of Chartwell. Along with them, more than one-thousand boats are sailing down the Thames.

Organizers call it the biggest gathering 3 on the river for 350 years. Some of the boats took part in the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940. Despite cool, drizzly 4 weather, hundreds of thousands of people lined the riverbanks between Hammersmith and Tower Bridge in London, watching the event.
