Selena Gomez to host 2011 VMA pre-show

BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. Emmy award-winning actress Selena Gomez will host the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Aug. 28, according to media reports Monday.
Along with a cadre of MTV personalities 1 and rock act Cobra Starship, Gomez will interview celebrities 2 and musicians outside Los Angeles‘ Nokia Theatre on VMA's "black carpet."
"After all of my years watching the VMAs, the pre-show has always been one of my favorite parts," Gomez says in a statement. "It is a true honor to be hosting from the black carpet this year."
Artists including Lady Gaga, Adele, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown and Young the Giant are slated 3 to appear.
Gomez currently has a hit album with her backing band the Scene, "When the Sun Goes Down," which is at No. 17 on the U.S. pop chart.
