As expected, the IMF added the yuan to the Special Drawing Right, its basket of reserve currencies. The Chinese currency will join the dollar, euro, pound and yen 1 late next year. Meanwhile, in the foreign-exchange markets the dollar reached seven-month highs against sterlings, which dipped below $1.50, and the euro. The Federal Reserve is expected to tighten 2 policy this month and the European Central Bank to ease it this week.
