CARACAS, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan authorities announced Wednesday the undersea wreckage 1 of a small plane that disappeared in 2008 with 14 people on board has been found.
Foreign Ministry 2 press chief Jorge Galindo said the wreckage of the missing plane was found six miles (nine kilometers) off Los Roques archipelago at a depth of around 3,000 feet (900 meters).
According to the Twitter posted by Attorney General Luisa Ortega Diaz, the ID code of the wrecked 3 aircraft is YV2081.
The plane, which disappeared on Jan 4, 2008, carried five Venezuelans including the pilot and copilot, eight Italians and one Swiss citizen. The body of the copilot was found days later.
The search was carried out by the U.S. search boat SeaScout under an agreement between Venezuela and Italy, said a statement released Wednesday by the Public Ministry.
