Hi there, I'm Ricky from the BBC World News for Children.

Coming up:

Smoke bombs and flying eggs in Ukraine parliament.

The world famous Hollywood sign is saved.

And the cat that was very nearly recycled!

First - parliaments are usually quite formal places - but there was mayhem in the Ukrainian parliament when a smoke bomb went off in the chamber 1 and the Speaker was pelted 2 with eggs. The Speaker - who is meant to be in charge of the chamber where politicians debate - had to be shielded from the eggs by umbrellas.

The protest was carried out by demonstrators who are angry that Ukraine's President is allowing Russia to keep a fleet of boats in their territory. Lots of people in Ukraine don't want to have much to do with Russia. Russia used to have control over Ukraine - but ever since they won the right to govern themselves many Ukrainians are against becoming too close to their former rulers.

Next - Sierra Leone in West Africa has one of the worst records in the world for children dying young. A big reason is that lots of people can't afford to see a doctor or get the medicine that they need. But now the government there is introducing free health care for children under the age of five, pregnant women, and some new mothers. Other countries and organisations like the UN have helped fund the project. It's hoped that by giving people the health care they need - children and mums will live much longer.

Footy news and David Beckham says he's two months behind schedule in his recovery from an achilles injury. That means he'll miss the entire season for LA Galaxy 3. Becks says he can't rush his recovery.....

CLIP: "I kind of want to push it, but with this kind of injury you can't. You just have to wait for it to heal and then move on."

Next - the famous Hollywood sign that sits on a hill above Los Angeles has been saved. There were worries that the sign would be destroyed after a building company bought up the land around it. But lots of famous celebrities 4 such as Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks have raised millions of pounds to buy it back. The governor of California - former action film star Arnold Swartzeneger - told the crowds why he thinks it's so important to keep the sign.....

CLIP: "It is a symbol of dreams, and a symbol of opportunity and hope. I know that when I was a kid, and I wanted to come to Hollywood - that is the kind of thing that I always had in my vision, in front of me."

And finally - to the story of a Scottish cat - that had a very luck escape. Alfie was discovered by workers at a recycling centre in Scotland - it seems his owners had put out their recycling box not knowing that their cat was tucked up under the rubbish. When the lorry tipped out its load - the terrified tom cat tumbled out. Luckily Alfie wasn't hurt and his owners are say they're very relieved to have him home.

Ok, that's all from the World News for Children team - we're back tomorrow.
