1. President Bush is trying to reassure 1 Americans the country's long-term economic outlook is strong. He says it's clear the economy has slowed, but says tax rebates 2 due out in May should help turn things around. 


 


2. Police say they believe the student body president at the University of North Carolina who was killed was a victim of random 3 violence. Eve Marie Carson was found Wednesday. Police say they don't have any suspects.


 


3. Southwest Airlines says it's ready to fight a possible multimillion-dollar Federal fine. The airline is being cited for flying 117 planes, past their mandatory 4 inspection 5 deadlines. Southwest is blaming the FAA and says it complied with all requests.


 


4. Mother Nature is putting on quite a show in Hawaii. You're looking at lava 6 that's flowing from one of the volcanoes there straight into the Pacific Ocean. That has forced some of evacuations, but so far it has been more of a tourist draw.
