Another provocative 1 action from Japan is expected today. January 14th is the so-called "Pioneering Day" for Japan's Ishigaki city. The city will celebrate Japan's claim of sovereignty over China's Diaoyu Islands.
This annual celebration began in 2010 when it was legalized by Ishigaki's parliament. This will be the fourth such event in the city.
Commemoration events and propaganda about its sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands are expected as usual.
The Chinese foreign ministry 2 criticized in 2010 the setting up of the "Pioneering day". The ministry said its so-called pioneering "is absolutely nothing close to a graceful 3 action", since China has indisputable sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.
