Barry Sim, from Aberdeenshire, tried to board the Malaysia Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur but could only get one seat.

Instead, he and his wife Izzy booked on to a KLM flight with their baby son, according to reports.

After hearing of the crash, Mr Sim said: "You get this sick feeling in the pit 1 of your stomach. We started getting butterflies. Your heartbeat starts going."
惊闻马航坠毁，西姆先生说道：“你会感觉胸口一阵难受。我们开始忐忑不安。心跳也开始加快。”
Mr Sim said he was "philosophical 2" about continuing to "go about your life", saying he believed the couple should take the KLM flight, despite his wife's misgivings 3 about the danger of another crash.
西姆先生说他会很“冷静”地继续“生活下去”，尽管他的妻子担心再次发生坠机的危险，他认为他们应该乘坐荷兰皇家航空公司航班。
"In my mind, lightning never strikes twice in the same place so I am still philosophical that you get on the flight and you go about your life. I know my wife doesn't feel like that.

"Probably the last thing she wants to do now is fly, especially to Kuala Lumpur."

A tearful Mrs Sim said: "There must have been someone watching over us and saying 'You must not get on that flight'.
眼眶含泪的西姆女士说：“冥冥之中一定有人在守护我们，告诉我们‘你们千万不要坐这趟飞机’。”
"We are very loyal 4 to Malaysia Airlines and we always want to fly with Malaysia Airlines."

She added that her husband usually disliked flying with KLM.
她还补充说她丈夫不喜欢荷兰皇家航空公司。
"But, do you know what? At this moment we are so glad to be on that KLM flight rather than that Malaysia Airlines flight," she said.
