ALGIERS, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Algerian government on Thursday strongly condemned 1 the deadly bomb attack that shook the Lebanese capital of Beirut, which left six killed and more than 70 others injured, APS news agency reported.
"Algeria strongly condemns 2 the suicide car bomb that targeted on Thursday the southern suburbs of Beirut. While reaffirming full solidarity 3 with the Lebanese government and the brotherly Lebanese people, Algeria extends condolences to the families of the victims, " APS news agency quoted the Foreign Ministry's spokesman Amar Belani as saying.
The official further reiterated 4 the North African nation's strong commitment to the stability of Lebanon, calling on all Lebanese people to work for national unity 5 and cohesion 6 through strengthening security and civil peace amid the alarming recurrence 7 of terrorism movement.
Thursday's bombing is the second attack targeting the Lebanese capital this week, and the fourth since July in the neighborhood of Haret Hreik, which is a stronghold of the Shiite movement of Hezbollah, said Lebanese Minister of Health Ali Hassan Khalil.
