French club Paris Saint-Germain signs Brazilian defender Silva

PARIS, July 14 (Xinhua) -- French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) announced on Saturday the recruitment of Italy-based center back Thiago Silva.
"Silva... has been transferred from AC Milan by Paris Saint-Germain, for a duration of 5 years," the club said in a statement posted on its website.
No details were given on the agreement's value but media reports said PSG would pay 62 million euros (about 75.94 million U.S. dollars) to sign the 27-year-old defender 1.
Playing in Italian Serie A for three seasons, Silva was considered one of the world's best central defenders 2.
Paris Saint Germain was one of Europe's top-spending clubs last season, spending more than 130 million US dollars on new players as new Qatari managers are investing billions of petrodollars on the club.
