LONDON, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- An injury from last week's Premier 1 League match against Swansea kept Wayne Rooney out of Manchester United's Champions League match against Benfica at home on Tuesday.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said Rooney had picked up a " couple of knocks" in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Swansea, but the England striker had been expected to recover in time.
However Rooney was ruled out of the squad 2 as Ferguson revealed his lineup to face the Portuguese 3 side.
Ashley Young and Dimitar Berbatov will pitch on the Manchester United attack line back up from a four-man midfield consisting of Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Nani.
