"Cloud Atlas" poised for box office success

BEIJING, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The highly-anticipated film "Cloud Atlas 1" is poised 2 to throw "Skyfall" from its seat at the top of China's box office when it debuts 3 here on Thursday, online polls showed Wednesday.
"Cloud Atlas" had attracted more than 8,300 votes at mtime.com and another 1,800 at m1905.com as of Wednesday morning, making it the most anticipated film among Chinese moviegoers.
After debuting 4 on Jan. 21 in the Chinese mainland, "Skyfall," the latest installment 5 in the James Bond series, came out on top in the week ending Jan. 27. It raked in about 224 million yuan (about 36 million U.S. dollars) in Chinese theaters, accounting 6 for more than 56 percent of ticket sales that week.
The domestic cartoon hit "Pleasant Goat and the Big, Big Wolf" came in behind "Skyfall," with 63 million yuan, while "Bring Happiness Home," a domestic comedy, came in third with 43 million yuan.
