Neymar scores 100th career goal on birthday

RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- On his 20th birthday on Sunday, Santos star striker Neymar scored his 100th career goal.
The highly anticipated goal came in the 70th minute as teammate and godfather of his newborn son Paulo Henrique Ganso drove a free kick from the lower left side of the field towards the front of the Palmeiras net. Neymar leaped into the air and headed the ball past keeper Deola before starting the celebration.
Despite Neymar's historic 1 goal, he was unable to help Santos as Palmeiras rallied 2 to win 2-1 in the fifth round of the Sao Paulo state championship.
Neymar has scored 82 goals with Santos while his other 18 were scored with the Brazilian national teams (youth and adult).
With a contract valid 3 until July 2014, Neymar has high hopes of establishing new records with Santos.
