约翰尼德普新片《黑影》出演吸血鬼
Though we knew it was coming soon, despite rumors 1 that Tim Burton mind end up working on something else in the meantime, Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros' new take on Dark Shadows, with Johnny Depp starring as the vampire 2 Barnabas Collins, will start shooting next April. Burton will be directing from a screenplay re-written by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter author Seth Grahame-Smith, as John August (Big Fish, Corpse 3 Bride, The Nines) wrote the first draft. It was originally supposed to start production this year, but was pushed to January, now all the way back to April. But at least it's pretty much ready to go now!

Burton has been linked to multiple projects recently, like Monsterpocalypse at DreamWorks Animation 4, a Mai The Psychic 5 Girl adaptation, and his upcoming animated 6 Frankenweenie and Addams Family movies, but alas 7 he's set to head into the Dark Shadows next (had to make that pun). Dark Shadows is based on a 1960s gothic daytime serial 8 that feature vampires 9, ghosts, ghouls, zombies, werewolves, parallel universes and time-paradoxes, that Burton described as "part campy melodrama 10, part dead serious—and decidedly odd—storytelling." I'm curious to see how both August and Grahame-Smith have reshaped the classic TV show into a modern movie that Burton is bringing to life with Depp. It will certainly be interesting to see.
