英语语法：基数词用法说明

1. 表示整十的基数词有时用于复数形式，表示人的岁数或年代：
The man died 1 in his thirties. 这个人三十多岁就死了。
He joined the army 2 in the eighties. 他于80年代参军。
2. 用基数词表示时刻时要注意以下几点：
① 若为整点钟，则直接读相应的基数词;若为非整点钟，则分别以“时”和“分”为单位用相应的基数词读出：
at twelve 在12点
at nine twenty-five 在9点25分
② 对于带“分”的时间，也可借助past(过)和to(差)这两个介词来表示(在美国英语中用after表示“过”)。但是注意，这样表示时“分”不能超过30，否则应作处理，如10:42应处理成“11点差18分”：
10:22 读作twenty-two past (after) ten
9:46 读作fourteen minutes to ten
以上分钟后带了minutes一词。若“分”为5, 10, 15, 20 等五的倍数，则可省略minutes：
10:05 读作five (minutes) past [after] ten 9:20 读作twenty (minutes) past [after] nine
若“分”为15或45，可借用quarter 一词;若“分”为30，可借用half一词：
9:15 读作a quarter past nine
6:30 读作half past six
3. 年份的读法。通常以“百”为单位来读：
1972 读作 nineteen (hundred and) sixty-two
1995 读作 nineteen (hundred and) ninety-five
【注】① 除非在正式场合，其中的hundred and通常都省略。
② 对于2003这样的年代通常以“千”为单位来读：
2000 读作 two thousand
2003 读作 two thousand and three
vbl.死亡，消逝v.死亡，枯萎( die的过去式和过去分词 )；死时处于（某种状态）或具有（某种身份）adj.死亡的，消逝的
- He was banished to Australia, where he died five years later. 他被流放到澳大利亚，五年后在那里去世。
- He was utterly bereft when his wife died. 他的妻子去世时，他十分凄凉。
