LONDON, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Prince George, son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, was being christened at the St. James's Palace on Wednesday.
He was baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, while the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince Harry 1 as well as Kate's family gathered for the private ceremony at the Chapel 2 Royal.
Also present at the private event were seven godparents of the newborn, including one being Prince William's cousin and the rest all friends of the royal couple.
Earlier report said that the ceremony was going to take place at 3 p.m., and would last for 45 minutes.
After the ceremony, the British monarch 3 posed for a four-generation group photo, the first of its kind since 1890s, according to media reports.
George, the third in line to the throne, was born in London on July 22. He was seen wearing a lace and satin gown, which local media said was a replica 4 of one made for Queen Victoria's eldest 5 daughter in 1841.
