 China announces geographic 1 codes for Diaoyu Islands 


The State Oceanic Administration (SOA) on Saturday released a string of geographic coordinates 2 of the Diaoyu Island and some of its affiliated 3 islets, in a new move to affirm China's sovereignty. 
The SOA announcement details the exact longitude 4 and latitude 5 of the Diaoyu Island and 70 of its affiliated islets while publishes location maps, three-dimension effect graphs and sketch 6 maps for the Diaoyu Islands. 
The announcement aims to help the public understand the information concerning the Diaoyu Island and its affiliated islets.
China has filed a copy of its Diaoyu Islands baseline announcement with the United Nations.
 
China's non-CPC parties condemn 7 Japan's "purchase" of Diaoyu Islands 
China's non-Communist parties have released a joint 8 statement expressing strong indignation over, and condemnation 9 of, Japan's so-called "purchase" of the Diaoyu Islands.
The statement says Ignoring the Chinese government's resolute 10 opposition 11 to the move, the Japanese government announced that it would "purchase" the islands to "nationalize them" on Sept. 10, overtly 12 infringing 13 upon China's territorial 14 sovereignty and seriously hurting the Chinese people's feelings, said the statement.

Chinese, Russian PMs hold phone talks on upcoming meetings 
Premier 16 Wen Jiabao says China and Russia will work closely together to push for success in the upcoming 17th regular meeting between the two countries' prime ministers and the prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
During a telephone conversation with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Wen Jiabao said In face of the complex and delicate international situation, China and Russia have worked closely together in addressing various challenges and have made progress in their comprehensive strategic partnership 17 of coordination 18.
He said the two countries must keep close communications and coordination to push for success in the two upcoming meetings, safeguard their common interests, and promote peace, cooperation and prosperity in the region.
 
China against vilifying 20 Islam, calls for respect between religions 
Foreign Ministry 21 spokesman Hong Lei says China opposes any vilification 22 to Islam and called for dialogue and communication between different civilizations and religions.
He made the remarks in response to the continuous protests against a U.S. movie deemed insulting Islamic Prophet Mohammed, which resulted in bloodshed in some countries. 
Hong Lei said China has consistently advocated dialogue and communication between different civilizations and religions in the spirit of mutual 23 respect and treating others as equals. 
China is against of any actions to vilify 19 the image of Islam or to hurt the feelings of Muslims.
 
Syrian president stresses commitment to cooperate with crisis-solving efforts
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has stressed his country's commitment to cooperate with all " truthful 24" efforts to solve the Syrian crisis so long as they are evenhanded.
Assad made the remarks during his meeting with UN-Arab League joint special representative Lakhdar Brahimi in Damascus Saturday. 
According to Assad, the success of the political work is related to pressurizing the countries, which are supporting and training the "terrorists" as well as smuggling 25 weapons to Syria, to halt such acts.
 
Anti-U.S. protests continue in Muslim world over film 
A new wave of protests and assaults against U.S. diplomatic missions erupted in the Muslim world after Friday prayers, when people continued to vent 26 their anger over an American film that was deemed an insult to Prophet Mohammed.

China's urbanization lacks quality, requires huge investment: green paper
Even as more than half of the Chinese population currently lives in cities, China's urbanization drive has not given enough attention to quality or provided equal treatment to migrant workers through the years.
This is according to a green paper on China's small and medium-sized cities in 2012 released at a development forum 28 in Beijing. 
The green paper says Small and medium-sized Chinese cities will become the key for promoting a better and faster urbanization process.
 
China's 2012 GDP to grow 7.7-7.8 pct: researcher 
The Chinese economy will expand between 7.7 percent and 7.8 percent in 2012, surpassing the 7.5 percent growth target set earlier this year according to a researcher from the country's top think tank. 
Fan Jianping says policymakers have taken into account the changes in the domestic and external environments when setting the growth target earlier this year.
He says although China's gross domestic product has slowed for nine consecutive 29 quarters, the country is still capable of achieving economic growth of between 7.6 percent to 7.8 percent in the July-September period.
 
The second China Marine 30 Economy Investment Fair kicks off
The second China Marine Economy Investment Fair has kicked off in coastal 31 city Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.
