Kyodo News reports that the Japanese government has officially launched the secretariat of the National Security Council, which will focus on coordinating 1 between ministries 2, gathering 3 information and centralizing strategic decision making. Local reports say the new executive body will strengthen the prime minister’s control over foreign and defense 4 policies. It will also end the traditional information management model, which was performed separately by different government organs.
