That makes him the world's second-highest paid banker this year, according to Deal Journal's calculations. The world's biggest banker bonus went to Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf, who was paid $21.3 million in 2009.

　　In another recent sign of the topsy-turvy world of banker pay, Lazard on Tuesday said CEO Kenneth Jacobs would receive $7.4 million for his work in 2009, a fraction of the $20.4 million his predecessor 1, the late Bruce Wassertstein, was paid in 2008.
