A major snowstorm in the US Midwest is forcing airports to cancel hundreds of flights, shutting universities and stranding 1 motorists on highways.

A United Airlines plane slid off the tarmac at Cleveland’s main airport shortly after landing, forcing passengers and crew to exit by stairs. No injuries have been reported. In Illinois, residents braved frigid 2 temperatures to dig themselves out from the snow. The storm dumped up to 15 centimeters of snow in parts of the state. Kansas has borne the brunt of the bad weather. In state capital Topeka, snow crews had their work cut out for them after the storm deposited close to 25 centimeters.
