The three friends were just days into their big trip. They'd planned to spend 9 weeks in Thailand before starting university. But 19-year-old Bruno Melling-Firth, 20-year-old Max Boomgaarden-Cook and Conrad Quashie who was 19 were all killed when the bus they were traveling in crashed. It collided 1 head on with another coach in Kamphaeng Phet province just after midnight on Tuesday. It's believed one of the buses was trying to do a U-turn. The students had been planning to visit the northern town of Chiang Mai popular with tourists. Around 40 other passengers were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The students had just left The Charter 2 School in Dulwich south of London. Their head teacher described them as a credit to their families.

"They were lovely boys. They all came from different schools. They settled in very quickly. They were really well liked amongst the community. They made friends and were very settled and very happy here. And these three boys were delightful 3 young people. They were credits to their families. They were credit to their communities. They had done a lot of things in they gap year. And they were looking forward to really making a contribution to society."

A Facebook page in tribute 4 to one of the boys has already been set up. Friends of Max Boomgaarden-Cook wrote: we will always remember you. Every time I look in the mirror, I will see your smiling cheeky face, sweet dreams, Max. I never got to say goodbye to you when you went to Thailand, can not believe you've gone. Miss you too much.

Max's father is reported to have said it is such an intense pain that will never go away. The parents of all three students killed planned to hold a memorial service and celebration of their children's lives.
