WELLINGTON, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida will discuss bilateral 1 cooperation in trade and regional issues when he visits New Zealand this weekend, New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully said Friday.
Kishida's visit would be the first by a Cabinet minister in Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government, which came into power in late 2012, said McCully.
Japan's participation 2 in the 11-nation Trans Pacific Partnership 3 trade negotiations 4 had opened a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, McCully said in a statement.
"I look forward to discussions with Mr. Kishida on how we can strengthen our cooperation, both bilaterally 5 and in the wider region," he said.
Kishida would also meet Trade Minister Tim Groser.
