Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi has met Ethiopian South Sudanese government and rebel representatives and expressed Beijing’s deep concern about the unrest in the country.
He called for an end to hostilities 1 and the return to law and order. He added China would like to play a constructive 2 role in promoting peace talks between the two sides.
The two parties said that they will start peace talks as soon as possible, and welcome the mediation 3 efforts by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development. Wang Yi also met with his counterpart in Ethiopia, Doctor Tedros Adhanom. Wang said Africa’s development contributes to world prosperity. He expressed China’s cooperation with Africa aims to facilitate its development.
