They looked for anything that may help identify the plane in the murky 1 depths.
“You can see that may be 2,3 meters in front of you, yet at back, tremendous bottom motion of the water, if you don’t hang on to something, it will move you really quickly. So, it’s just very difficult condition.”
Low visibility hinders the search. But it's soon obvious that this plane is much bigger than the Flight-19 aircraft. After years of lying on the ocean floor, clues from the plane emerged.
“We did find some pieces that we think may have numbers on, they look very promising 2.”
“I am sure this has numbers on it somewhere and once we clean this up we can probably could find. We may be able to identify the kind of plane once we get the numbers.”
Back on Bimini island ,the Littles take a closer look at the evidence.
“This is one of the most interesting pieces. We got several figures of what it could be,maybe this was attached solely 3 to something and this was like a grounding wire.”
The plane's individual registration 4 number can’t be found. But they find another clue that may be the key to the plane’s identity.
“There is something written on the side here. I am not seeing that. That is a real part number there, a whole sequence of numbers, razed 5, there’s numbers on the side, here, perhaps the manufacturer’s name. And I should got the ID of the plane, I think it would be able to figure out exactly what kind of plane this is from this. That number should work, that's actually pretty exciting.”
Laura makes a discovery of her own.
“The one that I'm most exciting about it is on the end - a big ‘48’ which makes you wonder if possibly the plane, this particular part, was manufactured in 1948.”
