Walking at night

There are times when walking at night can be very dangerous. Remember the advice list below and you can make walking safer. Avoid walking or running alone at night. Go walking or jogging with friends instead. Do not use headphone while walking, driving or jogging. Always walk in well-lighted area and avoid taking shortcuts 1. After dark, keep away from thick bushes or doorways 2 because someone could be lurking 3 there. If someone in the vehicle stops and asks for directions. Answer from a distance. Do not go near the vehicle. If you are followed by a stranger go immediately to an area with lights and people. If necessary, turn around and walk in the opposite direction. Do not show your cash openly and especially when leaving at ATM machine.

Man: Again? The area around the park is too dark at night. There should be more lights there.

Woman: I am afraid of the dark. I don’t feel safe in the dark. I feel someone is hiding in the dark to attack me.

Man: Your feelings might be right. You should never walk alone there at night. It is too dangerous.

Woman: I Know. And you should be more careful, too.
