[00:01.09]Salty Coffee 咸味咖啡
[00:08.86]A boy invited a girl to have coffee with him at a party.
[00:12.80]He was too nervous to say anything, and she felt uncomfortable.
[00:17.18]Suddenly he asked the waiter:“would you please give me some salt?
[00:22.42]I’d like to put it in my coffee.”
[00:24.50]She asked him curiously:“Why do you have this hobby?”
[00:28.88]He replied:“Every time I have the salty coffee,
[00:32.71]I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown,
[00:36.82]I miss my hometown so much,
[00:39.28]I miss my parents who are still living there.”
[00:42.01]While saying that, tears filled his eyes.
[00:45.29]She was deeply 1 touched.
[00:47.16]Then she also started to speak, spoke 2 about her faraway hometown,
[00:52.42]her childhood, her family.
[00:54.48]That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story.
[00:59.51]They continued to date.
[01:01.59]She found that actually he was a man who met all her demands;
[01:05.79]he had tolerance 3, was kind hearted, warm, careful.
[01:10.34]Then they got married and were living the happy life...
[01:13.19]And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee,
[01:17.85]as she knew that’s the way he liked it.
[01:19.98]After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said:
[01:24.90]“My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie.
[01:30.70]This was the only lie I said to you—the salty coffee.
[01:35.29]I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life,
[01:37.92]but I was too afraid to do that,
[01:39.99]as I have promised not to lie to you for anything.
[01:42.84]Now I’m dying 4, I’m afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth:
[01:47.98]I don’t like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.
[01:52.58]But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life!
[01:56.74]Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you.
[02:00.89]Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life.
[02:05.06]If I can live for a second time,
[02:07.96]I still want to know you and have you for my whole life,
[02:11.84]even though I have to drink the salty coffee again.”
[02:15.23]Her tears made the letter totally wet.
[02:19.06]Some day, someone asked her:“What’s the taste of salty coffee?”
[02:24.37]“It’s sweet.” She replied.
[02:26.94]The magic of love works 5 in the loving pairs.
[02:30.32]Both parts are always ready to sacrifice for the other’s sake 6.
[02:34.49]Though probably such a sacrifice will cause bitterness 7 to the contributing 8 one,
[02:39.79]he or she feels sweet.
