U.S. Marines, fighting Japanese forces, seize Mount Suribachi and raise an American flag twice in the same day. 1965Stan Laurel, half of the Laurel and Hardy 6 comedy team, dies in Santa Monica, California at age 74.
And 2000Carlos Santana wins eight Grammys for his album Supernatural, that ties the record set by Michael Jackson's Thriller 7 album for the most trophies 8 on Grammy night.
