Syria's opposition 1 coalition 2 has elected Ghassan Hitto to head an interim 3 government to administer the areas that rebel forces have seized from the government.

"Thank you very much. Tomorrow there will be a speech and you will hear through the speech the program and an introduction of the highlights of the plan for the near future."

Coalition members are hoping the new government will unite the rebels fighting against President Basher al Assad's forces, and provide services to Syrians living in rebel-held areas.
