According to the budget plan, China will spend 1.0443 trillion yuan in defense 1 spending in 2017, a 7% increase from the actual spending of last year, said an unnamed official from the Ministry 2 of Finance.

Fu Ying, spokeswoman for the Fifth Session of the 12th National People's Congress, said that China will raise its defense budget by around 7% this year. Fu said the increase is in line with China's economic development and defense needs.
