Age 岁月
The same space seems shorter as we grow older,
in youth we may have an absolutely new experience,
subjective 1 or objective,
every hour of the day.
Apprehension 2 is vivid,retentiveness strong,
and our recollections of that time,
like those of a time spent in rapid and interesting travel,
are of something intricate,multitudinous ,and long-drawn out.
But as each passing year converts some of this experience into automatic routine which we hardly note at all,
the days and the week smooth themselves out in recollection of contentless units,
and years grow hollow and collapse 3.
年岁
我们年岁渐渐增长，相同的一段时间显得较短......
青年时代我们可能有着绝对新鲜的经历，
不论主观的还是客观的，
每天每个时辰都是如此。
理解力清晰，记忆力强健，
我们对那段时期的记忆，
如同走马观花引人入胜的旅行期间留下的回忆，
可谓纵横交错、五花八门、历时久远。
可是年复一年流逝过去，这段时期的经历也就变成理所当然的俗套，我们几乎不再去注意，
每日每周平平稳稳过去，在记忆中变成了令人不满的时间单位，
一年年也变得空空如也令人沮丧。
