Some Sausage Sandwiches
One morning last summer Mrs Andrews made 2 some sausage sandwiches for her husband's lunch. There was 3 one sausage left over. Mrs Andrews didn't care 4 for sausages herself 5 and so she gave 6 the last one to Henry, their little dog. Henry ate 7 it up q uickly.
During 8 the morning the dog got 9 ill. He wouldn't stop shaking 10 his head and he couldn't stand up properly 11. Mrs Andrews thought 12, "He has eaten something that didn't agree 13 with him. Maybe that sausage was bad. . . " She suddenly 14 remembered her huusband's lunch. She ran 15 to the telephone and called Jim at the office.
"Jim, I hope 16 you haven't eaten any of those sandwiches yet 17. "
"Yes, I have. . . "
"You have? Well, listen- don't eat any more. I gave Henry the last sausage and now he's ill. Go to the doctor, Jim. Tell the doctor about the dog. Get some medicine 18 at once. "
Jim came 19 home at lunchtime 20 and went to bed. "I had 21 a very wnpleasant hour with the doctor," he told his wife 22. "The medicine made me very sick." The next morning Jim was fine. Henry seemed 23 quite well again too. At eleven o'clock the milkman came with the milk.
"Good morning, Mrs Andrews," The milkman said 24. "How's your dog this morning? I have been thinking 25 about him. . . "
"Have you?' Well, he seems 26 alright now, but. . . "
