委内瑞拉缴获2.7吨可卡因
CARACAS, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan authorities seized nearly 2.7 tons of high-grade cocaine 1 in the northwestern Zulia state, Interior and Justice Minister Miguel Rodriguez said on Thursday.
"We were able to deal a striking blow against international drug trafficking with the seizure 2 of 2,694 kilos of cocaine that was wrapped in some special packages...and we suppose they were destined 3 for Central America, Honduras," the state-run Venezuelan News Agency (AVN) cited Rodriguez as saying.
The drugs, intercepted 4 in the Port of Maracaibo, were labeled as "plastic for recycling" in order to avoid detection.
The seizure is the third-largest so far this year in the country. In February, the Venezuela government seized five tons of marijuana in the southwestern border state of Tachira, and 4.1 tons of cocaine in Zulia last month.
Venezuelan authorities captured more than 14.6 tons of drugs in the first quarter of 2013, a 32.4-percent increase over the same period of 2012, a year when a total of 45 tons were found or confiscated 5.
