Capital 首都
The capital of a country is the city where its government meets. 一个国家的首都就是这个国家政府的所在地。
The capital of the U,S,A. is not New York City, but Washington, D.C. 美国的首都不是纽约，而是华盛顿。
Washington, D.C. is much smaller than New York in population and size. 华盛顿的人口数和面积比纽约要小得多。
But the capital of the U,S,A. is Washington, D.C. 但华盛顿是美国的首都。
What about China? 中国的首都呢？
It is not Shanghai, but Beijing. 它的首都不是上海，而是北京。
What about Japan? 日本的首都呢？
Japan's old capital was Kyoto. 日本的旧首都是京都。
However, Japan's current capital is Tokyo. 不过，日本现在的首都是东京。
