WARSAW, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Gales 1, mostly in central and northern Poland, have blown over thousands of trees, damaging cars and cutting off power supply for thousands of homes.
The gales hit Poland over the weekend and Monday and set to continue into Tuesday, according to local media.
The fire brigade has been called out over 4,700 times, over 420 roofs blown off and three people injured, including two firemen.
Some 23,000 homes have been short of electricity.
In the mountains in southern Poland, heavy snow and strong winds caused a huge rise in the risk of avalanches 2 in the Tatra range.
