Last Tuesday, President Xi Jinping met with Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the newly appointed chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative 1 Region (HKSAR), at the Zhongnanhai leadership compound.
国家主席习近平于上周四在中南海瀛台会见了香港特别行政区新任行政长官林郑月娥。
Congratulating Lam on her victory in the election as the HKSAR's fifth-term chief executive and ensuing appointment by the State Council, Xi said Lam's victory is well deserved.
习近平主席对林郑月娥胜选，随后被国务院任命为香港特别行政区第五任行政长官表示祝贺，称其当选是实至名归。
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
今年是香港回归祖国20周年。

"Over the past two decades, great success has been achieved in the implementation 3 of the 'one country, two systems' principle in Hong Kong," said Xi. "As the newly appointed chief executive, you have a heavy responsibility and a glorious mission."
习近平主席称：“20年来，'一国两制'在香港的实践取得巨大成功。作为新一任行政长官，林郑月娥责任重大、使命光荣。”
"The central government's determination to insist on the 'one country, two systems', 'Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong' and 'a high degree of autonomy' is firm and will not get changed or waived," Xi said, adding that Beijing will "fully 4 support you and the new SAR government to govern according to law".
习近平主席说道：“中央坚持'一国两制'、'港人治港'、高度自治的决心坚定不移，不会变、不动摇。”他还表示，中央政府将全力支持林郑月娥和新一届特别行政区政府依法施政。
Xi expressed the hope that Lam could live up to the great trust, rely on the people of Hong Kong, comprehensively and precisely 5 implement 2 the principle of "one country, two systems" and the SAR's Basic Law, and contribute to the development of Hong Kong.
